On October 23, 2020, at 5 p.m. famous painter, member of the Artists’ Union of Kazakhstan, Honored Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kazakbay Azhibekuly will have «In search of the ideal» his solo exhibition’s opening ceremony in the new building of the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy (1A Bokeikhan Street).

The program of artistic events of the Library of Elbasy dedicated to the celebration of the Day of the First President and the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan opens with a personal exhibition of the author, whose works are in the museum collection of the Library of Elbasy. A new exhibition space allowing vernissages of domestic and foreign authors to be held in a chamber format will be presented to the public.

The exhibition will feature about thirty works by the artist, created in the period from 1997 to 2020. The early period of his creativity is reflected by the canvases from the museum collection of the Library of Elbasy, dating from the late 1990s. The works of the last decade reflect the creative and personal evolution of the author. The desire for perfection, an ideal in art, characteristic of the artist's work determined the name of the exhibition.

Kazakbay Azhibekuly reflects the main line of creative searches of Kazakh artists - revival of traditional origins and spiritual heritage of the Kazakh people. Each anniversary of Independence is a motivation to analyze the past as a condition of dynamic movement into the future of the country, citizens of Kazakhstan. This is felt in coloristics, the movement of Kazakbay's brush, which are significantly different from the manner of work in his early period.

Kazakbay Azhibekuly was born in 1966 in Bestamak village, Tselinograd region. In 1981 he graduated from the Alma-Ata Art School named after N.V. Gogol, and then, in 1993 - the Theater and Art Institute named after T. Zhurgenov (now T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts). K. Azhibekuly is a student of Kenzhebay Dusembayev and Alibay Bapanov, he follows the best traditions of painting of the Kazakh art school. His acquaintance with the works of S. Mambeev, K. Telzhanov, S. Sariev, S. Aitbaev, T. Togyzbayev and other outstanding Kazakhstani masters played a significant role in the formation of the artist's original style.

K. Azhibekuly has many glorious achievements in his creative biography. Since 1986, the artist's works have been participating in republican, all-Union and international exhibitions. In 1996, he became the laureate of the prize of the Youth Union of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in 1998 - the owner of the Grand Prix of “Shabyt” Republican Festival of Youth Creativity, the owner of the Presidential Scholarship and the laureate of «Zhiger» International Festival of Young Artists.

K. Azhibekuly is an accomplished author, member of the Artists’ Union of Kazakhstan, laureate of many awards, including a special prize named after A. A. Kasteev (1999), «Daryn» state youth award of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2001). He is the winner of numerous competitions: «Astana-Baiterek», «Flourishing of Astana - Flourishing of Kazakhstan»; laureate of Presidential (2009) and State (2010) scholarships. In 2012, K. Azhibekuly became one of the winners in the Republican competition «Kazakh folk epic. History and traditions of the Kazakh people», thereby confirming loyalty to his creative credo.

In 2016 he received the title of Honored Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The artist's works are in the Akorda residence, the museum collection of the Library of Elbasy, the collections of A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts, G. Aytiev Kyrgyz National Museum of Arts and in private collections around the world. Television films were shot about the work of Kazakbay Azhibekuly: «Steppe Pastoral», «Keskindemeshi». Currently, the artist is a professor, lecturer at the Higher School of Arts of the International University of Astana, as well as an independent director of the Board of Directors of the Astana Opera NJSC.
